Even though I more or less never do this, I will deconstruct what in my opinion is a very sick tournament poker hand. I will play it from both sides. Showing what the correct thinking process should be. For the record, hands like these, and this type of thinking is why I excel at poker. And it's not even really close.
Our hero here 3 bets the original raisers preflop raise. No issues there, pretty standard. The bad guy calls. Now from this point we can examine what both players are thinking. The original raiser was UTG, which indicates a strong hand, that being said, it's a 7 handed table. So the range you have to put him on is pretty wide. I'd say any paid 22+, aqs+. That is really it though. I think most people are folding any kings. As for the reraiser, I think the bad guy has to put him on AA-QQ, some times TT+, and AK. That is it.
The flop comes air, the bad guy checks, and our hero checks. The bad guy checking is pretty normal, our hero checking is AWFUL. How could you not c-bet here. By not c-betting you give away information about your hand. You are not protecting TT-JJ, so you can now rules those out. You can also rule out any smaller pair that didn't improve. So now the bad guy can assume that you have either a set, AA, or AK. As for the bad guy, we have learned nothing about his hand.
Moving to the turn:
The bad guy again checks. This gives away info about his hand. He now no longer has KK-TT. Other then that it's still pretty iffy. He could still be slowplaying a set of he could have AA and slow play it or AK AQ. When our hero checks the turn he has officially made his hand transparent. It's AK. Because rarely, will someone slow play set although that is still a somewhat small possibility, and rarely will someone slowplay a pair of Aces past the turn. So that leaves us with AK as the biggest clue to what he has.
On the river the ace comes. Our bad guy checks again. He has nothing. No one slow plays a set all the way to the river, and since our hero has checked the whole way down, why on earth would he bet AK now, what would he expect to be called by? He can't expect to get any value out of most hands except for AQ, plus betting puts him a spot to get bluffed, so the optimal play is to obviously bet here if you have a set hoping to get raised or called. Our bad guy doesn't, he checks, so he has nothing. Now even though I just explained why betting is awful, our hero does anyway. No dice. Our bad guy checkraises all in. Now, you snapp call with fist pump and get shipped chips.

Top Five Online Tourney Players
A lot of people ask me to name the best tournament player, and while I usually say me, at the moment I have to give the award to bigjoe2003
Co owner of sngicons.com, Joe flat out dominates. He was the second ever supernova elite on poker stars. He is the biggest winner at sngs in the history of online poker. That really is something to be said. He is slowly taking over the multi tournament scene as well. He won over 40 ME packedges this past month so I'm told. That is a sick June. I think Joe's only real fault if he has one, is that he just doesn't grind enough. That and no one alive complains more then him despite winning oh you know, millions of dollars.
As for other elite tournament players I think you'd have to say JWVDCW(Assani Fisher), Bakes(David Baker), Rizen, and me.
Assani recently has had some huge scores, in my opinion though he has yet to do well against top flight competition. He crushes large tournies with weak fields, but has yet to do well in tough fields. Yet his overall roi,profit, and average buy in has to put him in the top 5.
If I were to take a hard look at myself, I'd say that I could easily be argued that I could lay claim as one of the best tournament players, but honestly I've just lost the drive. If you look at my results, I've won or had a top 3 finish in every tournament on stars except the two big Sunday events. No one else can say that. When faced with other top players like Sctrojans and live players like Victor Ramdin, I've came out in first place. Which is nothing to sneeze at.
On various forums there has been a lot of talk about next years online and live player of the year races. It has slowly started to get my mojo going. My only issue is it would take more or less a year and a half type of commitment to go for it. I'd have to get my bankroll in a spot to play live events for half the month. Not to mention play just about every WSOP and WPT event. I'm afraid honestly, that if I did this, I retire from poker after the year. Ha.
On another note, I'd like to point out that the state of Maryland has produced 15 of the top 100 online tournament players according to poketfives.com. That is pretty damn crazy.

Halfway Point
So we've reached the halfway point of the year. To quote the comic book man, "worst half year ever." Fuck me. I've gone from almost engaged with child, to not having a girlfriend and no longer with child. Now I've got people talking shit about my game? That's funny. A little while ago I was told I used to be feared, but what have I won lately? Yeah, I haven't played much all year. That's because I didn't have to. But ever so slowly I'm coming back.

El Oh El Cashaments
So last night at about 12am I decided to see if I could pull of this 24 table thing for a couple hours. Well, I can pull off 24 tables of regular speed, and 18 tables of speed. Since I get more hands an hour with speeds I ran with that. The only problem I had was computer slow down. Apperently that many tables+holdem manager+auto hotkey=slowing down computer response time. That actually really sucked because at some points I would time out in my hands because the table was slow at popping up. Considering that plus me having to respond to 3 or 4 other tables=timing out. Here are my results of playing 18 tables of 25NL.

That is roughly 4.5 hours worth of work. Amazingly, I would have loved that much money about 6 years ago and now it's just pocket change. Regardless, the fact that I pulled 19 bb/100 hands playing this many tables is pretty fucking hot. So from here on out, as a change of pace, I will ride this cash thing out. For two reasons-1)If I'm as good as I think I am, I can make sooooooooo much money. For now I will start out low. Every couple of days I will move up a level. Every 20k hands. Whick should be about every 2 days. So by the end of next week I'll be at NL200 or so. 2)I'm sick of playing 12 hour sessions continuously. I enjoy taking breaks.

5/28 Notes
Well Baseball went horrendous for me yesterday. What can you do.
The plays for today:
NHL:
Redwings money line. It's pickem??? Home ice advantage is that big of an edge? Stop. That is so ridiculous it's absurd. If I had a farm, I'd bet it on this game. Pittspurg may win one game this series and that is a big if. If they do manage to win one game it will be game 4. Apperently the lines makers did not notice that Pittspurg has yet to score this series so far. I'm guessing they expect a let down maybe. Apperently they forgot it's the Stanley Fucking Cup. Not to mention Ozzie is 12-2 this year in the playoffs and he is undefeated in Stanley cup series for his lifetime.
NBA:
Celtics -6 plus the under at 173. I was actually smart enough to run a parlay on this today as well. Considering the under plus the zigzag theory has come through EVERY GAME SO FAR, it clearly won't hit tonight. Basketball is rigged, if you don't believe me see Brent Barry's last shot vs. the Lakers last night.
Any baseball plays won't be made till later.
For those that don't know Johnny Bax has signed with Ultimate Bet. Ultimate Bet is a company that got in at the ground floor during the start of the internet poker boom. Since that point they have managed to make every bad decision they could possibly make. As of recent they tend to not pay people, and they don't like to comment about the obvious super user account that was detected 8 months ago. Mr. Bax who for some odd reason has a great up standing reputation now works with a fraudulent company. Seems to me that signing a man with a good reputation is the best way to keep being fraudulent.
To be honest, I really despise what I do for a living right now, and as far as I'm concerned over the next 5 years I'm going to make as much money as I can and then get the fuck out. Anyone who doesn't believe that there isn't some serious forms of cheating going on at the highest levels of poker tournaments and cash games is seriously mistaken. The only comical thing about it is I still win.

I date a girl who played 4 years varsity basketball. I'm sure if she wanted to, she could play some level of college basketball. She used to routinely play with guys at Patterson park in Baltimore. She supports all forms of women's sports. She herself agrees with me. This is unwatchable crap.

4/24 Notes
What an end to another exciting night. For the night I finished an official 3-1.
I ended up placing one last bet on the BJ Penn fight at about 11:21 PM. It was an awful decision to chase money I lost but I got lucky and BJ won by TKO at the end of the 3rd round.
The Redwings looked absurdly tough tonight. The series bet looks to be a good one.
The Pistons looked like total shit. With the road victory I really thought they could take both games at home. I bought two points just to seal the deal. I was way off base here. At least I nailed the under on that. I should have just stuck with my original game plan.
All in all it was a good night and I can't complain.
I'm going to look over a few things and then in a bit I'll post my plays for tomorrow.

Life is Different
So I'm expecting! Due in February 2009 Barbie and I will be with child. How nuts is that shit right?
Because of a ton of life changes that I've made and am still making, I'm in the middle of negotiating a buy out of the 500k bet. That is how that is going to be resolved with sadly me on the losing end. While I'm certain I'd be succesful I just obviously have more important things to deal with.
How will this blog change? Well, not much, it will still mainly involve gambling. All my successes and failures. Along with all that it will include updates about our future child and my thoughts on Baltimore.
As for Gambling, most know I've been focusing all my energy on sports as of late. Right now I have my money on the Lakers to win this series vs the Spurs and the finals. At this point I wouldn't say I'm a good handicapper, but I've learned to follow lines, and as far as I can tell, it's very profitable. I also would like to thank some of my friends who have helped me along the way. I would know nothing about sports without them.

With a $225 bankroll I started the bet. The goal is 500k by the end of the year.

5/13 Notes
The bet will officially start tomorrow at 3:15PM EST. Sadly buildaroll no longer is a good rakeback site. I don't imagine payments will be going out for Full Tilt this month. I can't wait to see the fall out from this. I imagine the owner of the site will have 20k in rakeback to pay out to players. Sucks.
In other news, why does Detroit have to score so many goals. The 3rd period was a killer for me and I ended up losing the under bet. Apperently Mr. Turco has no defense against the Redwings offense. With that my record in nhl games is 3-1 but my total profit dropped down to +$115. Sigh.
Today's bets will be all for one unit-the Pen's money line at -120, the Red Sox money line at -162, and the under for Red Sox @ Baltimore which is 8(1/2)runs at -125.
I think with Philly's two top defensemen out that money line is seriously off. Home ice advantage just isn't worth that much.
As for the Red Sox vs the O's please. Baltimore has zero offense. Beckett is pitching plus it's early in the season when he is usually at his best. Not to mention Roberts and Hernadez is out. Plus one of Baltimore's better pitchers is on the mound. Hopefully I can increase my profit margin.

Sports Betting
Considering the landscape of online poker I'm going to branch out into sports betting. To be honest I know nothing about sports betting at this moment except for reading a couple things. As usual I will post everything in here. I don't plan on betting on anything right now, but I am eyeing the Penquins for Friday. They haven't lost a home game all post season, not to mention they were incredibly tough at home during the regular season. They seem to be on the mission. Granted, the Flyers dispitched the Canandians with authority.

This is the largest bet I've ever made. It is for serious money. The amount I will not get into. The other party does not with to divulge such info.
I can use what ever form of gambling I want. I just can't go broke and I must provide details on how every cent is made.
Starting Friday at the end of each night I will provide as many details as I can.
Can this be done? Easily. Will I do it? Of course I will. I have to prove I'm better then everyone else somehow don't I? For my ego I do.
